Conservative-y observations 1) Traditions that survived for many generations probably brought at least some benefits to some people; 2) Any persistent conflict of interest that hasn't already been solved probably won't be solved by this generation, except by new technology.

I totally agree, but is it fair to say that some traditions(or behaviors) may be good at self-perpetuating & overall detrimental while more desirable traditions may not be good at self-perpetuating?
I think 'prestige-biased cultural transmission' means that people are pretty good at imitating any tradition that seems to be working for other people.
