Corollary to point 1: If a new idea hasn't been tested on at least a small scale to see if it actually works without creating more problems than it solves, then don't try it on a large scale. Programmers learn this early on; progressive activists usually never learn it.

I arrived at point 2 recently via my own line of reasoning. For ex. the abortion debate will continue until we have the tech to seamlessly remove fetus from the mother and develop it independently in lab.
