This might be an unpopular opinion in my Twitter sphere, but I dislike that Hungary is "banning" gender studies. I don't like ideology based government intervention, though in the form of simply cutting funding it's the least intrusive/authoritarian way that it could be executed.

And I say this as an academic who thinks most gender studies theories are utter nonsense that have been empirically disproven by thousands of studies.

The principle should be the focus, and the precedent is what's alarming about it. If anyone disagrees, imagine if the American government decided to cut funding to any university that teaches evolution, because they ideologically object to it as Hungary objects to gender studies.

Seems like a pretty straightforward market-based solution. If someone is willing to pay, then it stays in the program.

One question sir , how can these planets be completely round ? Random chaotic theory ? Whereas a very intelligent human cannot draw a perfect circle with a free hand .

I guess this could depend on whether one is a utilitarian or Kantian deontologist. But even from a utilitarian perspective, in many countries universities are public organizations. It amounts to state censure, a dangerous precedent. Social media is not a public utility.

Is it a ban or a refusal to find it with public funds? I'm not certain, but I think it is well, though it could go awry for sure.
