There’s a large space between being friends and being enemies. You should be “at peace” with your exes - should be able to have a warm, quick convo if you ran into them on the street - but they shouldn’t be in your life.
Very few people can stay friends with exes without it compromising intimacy in later relationships. They are emotionally too widely distributed. Hard to admit however as this inability to “say goodbye” requires a massive amount of honesty about ones’ need for validation.
I can admit exceptions to this among very high-conscious individuals but trying to be friends with exes is almost always a sign of insecure narcissism - these people are never “all in” a relationship (yes or no) - why they constantly jump from partner to partner, collecting each
