Yes he is my favorite artist. There is a rumor in my family that he sketched my great-grandmother when they were both expatriates in Europe.

Sargent's "The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit" is the finest example of Impressionist portraiture ever produced. When in Boston I try to make a pilgrimage to view it. There is always some subtle nuance that I had missed before.
