and will even act like they're working until they fail catastrophically. Actual decentralization is hard to measure, and you won't know you've screwed it up until you discover the relevant parties have been served with a court order (or had their Internet access cut off).
Sounds like crypto security for distributed systems must also include red-teaming by lawyers and electrical grid experts, and not just hackers.
