Christianity may be the authority over your sexuality, but it is not the authority over sexuality. Understand the difference and act accordingly.
Also, understand that there are many forms and interpretations of Christianity, from very sex-negative to very sex-positive, from reactionary to progressive, from Russian Orthodox churches that favor strict monogamy to Unitarian churches that host polyamory meetup groups.

In America, those in power seem to be mainly semi-progressive Mainline Protestants, and semi-progressive Catholics who don't take papal encyclicals all that seriously.
