Next time a politician says 'we must address the root causes of violence', ask whether they're referring to 1) evolutionary processes of sexual selection 2) genetic influences on aggressiveness & impulsivity, or 3) over-regulated economies that incentivize 'illegal markets'

Ah, so when you see cultures or subcultures struggling with non-religious violence, you don't see attitudes shaping that in serious ways? Maybe you do, but just don't see culture as playing key role in changing...

I ask because when the politician (or anybody) talks about addressing violence, they probably are in Sam Harris mode, thinking of what levers they can actually pull.

That is indeed the million dollar question.

My million dollars is that we'll find that culture and hard-wiring will each have massive levers we can pull to make huge differences. But it won't be easy.
