To be fair, 90 percent of politicians would be intellectually outmatched to a comical degree. There's little to no upside and a lot of meme generating downside for them.

Debating requires rhetorical skills, not political skills. Shapiro plays fast and loose with the facts while using rhetorical skills to win his arguments, namely the art of attacking straw men. Ocasio Cortez has the backing of a majority of the public, and facts are on her side.
