Most Americans say they have never used a govt social program. Among them, the average had actually used at least 3! Many don't think of things like Pell Grants, tax-exempt retirement/health benefits, the Home Mortgage Interest Deduction, etc. as govt programs 2/5pic.twitter.com/jf5R9gXsf0

Tax exemptions and tax deductions are only 'government programs' if you start from the assumption that gov't has a right to take all of our money. Think about it.

But they don't take all of our money and most of the taxes we do pay go for things that we all benefit from in one way or another

That doesn’t follow. Nothing about that follows. Last I checked, those deductions and exemptions are from tax rates rather below 100%, and making them even lower than less than 100%.
