Most debates over AI 'consciousness' are tedious. Here's a more specific question: when we develop Artificial General Intelligence, would it benefit from 'meditating' once in a while? What would 'mindfulness' look like in an AI?

WTF is the problem to which an AGI is ever going to be a solution? BTW AGIs are already here with us now. They're the modern Corporate entity. Exhibits many emergent properties not present in any of the components. The whole is greater than the sum of the component parts.

Meh... I think mindfulness does good for our ancestrally-shaped mind that needs to exist in our present day environment. I'd bet that if an AGI would have some issues in need of meditation, this "entity" meditating will be the least of our problem...

Broadly I think non-tedious AI consciousness discussion can be had by taking functionalism as true & asking qs like: how are animal minds built? How convergent is their design? What limitations do they face that AIs might not? How adaptive is conscious behaviour? What's it for?

Does AI have an awareness not identical to the processes of body or mind; does AI have a capacity to see Emptiness? Can they realize Buddha Nature? Mindfulness would both strengthen capacity to rest in this state, & concurrently observe the mechanics of AI mind-body processes.

From an ultimate viewpoint, Emptiness would be identical for all sentient beings; it the “source” of consciousness. But relative or developmental (dependent origination) would reflect the causal processes, either unique to AI or similarly structured to human consciousness.
