I wish that the NY journalists would just stop writing for a couple of weeks every summer, drive across America, and talk with some ordinary folks. Maybe even listen. Go to some ranges, sing in some churches, get to know their fellow citizens. Might help.

Yes, my conservative uncle has taken me to a shooting range several times and I liked it. The majority of ordinary people I've known in my life from northern suburbs to steel cities to the south have never even fired a gun

BS Grace. I don't own a gun but my dad taught ALL us kids in the neighborhood how to safely shoot a CO2 cartridge BB gun. Made my MOM nuts, but we learned a lot. And I DID own a gun right out of college for protection as I traveled a lot so I'll bet many ppl HAVE shot a gun b4.
