I wish that the NY journalists would just stop writing for a couple of weeks every summer, drive across America, and talk with some ordinary folks. Maybe even listen. Go to some ranges, sing in some churches, get to know their fellow citizens. Might help.

There are millions of ordinary folks living on the coasts, you think everyone on the coasts is rich? Maybe take a trip to the coasts and these areas where non "ordinary" people live and educate yourself
I lived in Manhattan for five years and Palo Alto for six. Not many ordinary folks either place, as far as I could tell.

Yeah if NYC journalists wanted to meet "ordinary folks" (what Geo meant was white working class, right?), all they'd have to do is get to Staten Island. For East Coast cities in general, suburbs and exurbs. Significant chunks of American farmlands just 1 or 2 hrs away as well
