In honest civilizations, 'highly educated' means highly enlightened. In self-deceived civilizations, 'highly educated' just means highly indoctrinated.

No civilization has been 100% honest, but many have been honest about important things that we aren't honest about.

Implying that there have been a significant # of civilizations that were substantially more honest than Western Civ in its current liberal democratic incarnation is a dumb way to make this point. The vast majority of civs claimed divine support for their political institutions
