I very much dislike most forms of identity politics. But my great fear is that white identity politics will be explicitly embraced by 2024.

Absolutely. But population proportions matter. Nobody resents it if a group that comprises .0001% of the population engages in identity politics. If a group that comprises a majority of the population does, though, then that means all of society is an identity battlefield.
So, identity politics is OK if the identity represents less than about 20% of the population? What about the women's rights movement, which represents 50.8%?

And I think I wrote .0001%, so I am not sure I would scale my approval up to 20% ! If the 20% were obviously oppressed, though, then I would.

Ha! Well, complicated issue. It would depend upon context. I would have supported identity politics in the 1960s for African Americans, especially in the South, because they were undeniably oppressed. I'm more skeptical about women in modern U.S.

It is a bit complicated. A national identity is good, but I'm not sure identity and politics is good, or to what degree. I think it's vitally important to placethe sovereignty of individuals and human rights at the top.
