‘Silent Spring’ by Rachel Carson, published 56 years ago. Reproduction needs nutrients. Modern agriculture has poisoned our food (& soil). What little nutrients are left in our food today are used by our bodies for detoxification, not to build the new generation.
-
Traditional societies the world over had special (nutrient-dense) foods that they called 'sacred' and that were given to couples who wanted to conceive. Particularly the women ate those foods before, during and after pregnancy.

I can't figure this out. Am I supposed to be afraid of more population, or less?

I wouldn't be surprised if the number of pregnancies per woman (leading to a live north or not) dropped by about that much, few people complain. Does sperm count drop linearly? Does it currently keep doing so? The past drop *alone* doesn't seem an existential threat.
