If Remain had won the referendum, would Brexit supporters have ever had the opportunity to push for such a reconsideration given new information? The asymmetry and double standards are what gall everyone.

Probably yes - many leavers didn’t expect to win ‘this time around’ and the anti EU folks in the government are/were not going anywhere. They had the power to topple David Cameron and if they had lost I would only expect their power to grow.

I believe remainers are probably as equally Ill-informed as leavers but he consequences of staying in the EU ‘for now’ cannot be as severe as leaving.

Also - in any democratic system you vote for something then immediately a backlash emerges to test the mettle of the idea/elected leader. If they can’t stand the heat they quit or are forced out.
