Are you a writer who cares about evidence, & is annoyed by the media's tendency to focus on whatever topics are new & shiny even if they're unimportant in the big scheme of things? If so, you should apply to write for Vox's new site on effective altruism: https://boards.greenhouse.io/voxmedia/jobs/1240850?gh_jid=1240850 …

Regardless of your views on Vox, wouldn't you rather the people they hire for their EA site to be as high quality thinkers as possible?

I have mixed feelings. But I fundamentally don't trust Vox, its intentions, or its judgment. There may be hidden risks to allying with them. EA should be skeptical, IMHO.

Dylan Matthews is pretty involved in EA, and seems to have done a good job with e.g. https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2018/5/31/17344406/crispr-mosquito-malaria-gene-drive-editing-target-africa-regulation-gmo … or https://www.vox.com/2016/6/9/11896096/eggs-chick-culling-ended … https://www.vox.com/2017/7/2/15847840/beinart-atlantic-left-immigration … is partisan but not unfair imo. https://www.vox.com/2015/2/19/8069533/end-of-the-world … is a listicle, but very early Vox (2/'15), and still rigorous.

I understand the skepticism, but so long as they stay outside of the domain if the political, it seems like Vox could be a powerful ally for EA.

Vox covers lots of things well, which makes the extreme partisanship on certain topics all the more infuriating.
