MBA programs are simply not that politically fraught - nothing like what other areas of the academy have become. Tuck's website spells out what is meant by "awareness" and it's not about politics, it's about being self-aware, giving/receiving feedback, anticipating biz trends etc

fwiw, I think subjective criteria are over-used in admissions across the board but as long as they're going to use subjective criteria at all, they might as well try to select for people who are cognizant of their surroundings -that's what business managers are paid to do.
