Technological advancement is obvious. Moral/ethical/political is not so obvious to me. Isnt Pinker claiming we are a «better animal»?
Yes, and he's right, according to many metrics of ethical behavior, such as not torturing people or animals for fun, not owning slaves, not killing people as often, etc.

Of course Pinker is right on a global scale, but if you look at the neoliberal race to the bottom in North America, driving more into poverty in the affluent west, the exponential increases in income inequality might be a greater threat to social stability than climate change.
