Churchill, FDR, JFK, Reagan to a lesser extent often clocked speeches at around 100-110 wpm. A typical political speech was more like 150 wpm. People who speak more slowly are also less likely to use "ummms and ahs", indicative of mastery and discipline.

This is really interesting. I assumed that fast speech indicated nervousness, as if ppl are afraid they will forget all the info they crammed. When analyzing speeches perceived as great vs mediocre, some have noted that the "great orators" of 20th century more slowly than peers.
