Unfalsifiable isn't the point. Non-explanatory is. All those other classes of theory have good (hard to vary) explanations.

You think sexual selection theory isn't a good explanation of behavioral sex differences?

At least it has a coherent meta-theory that's consilient with the other evolutionary sciences.

"Coherent" being the key word. There is coherent truth and correspondent truth, just as there are conceptual facts and objective facts. Which is better? Objective facts & correspondent truths or conceptual facts & coherent truths?

How an idea views criticism doesn't affect whether it's falsifiable. Viewing it as evidence favouring itself does make it easy to vary, yes.

More generally, falsifiability of a theory isn't a property of its proponents (e.g. their willingness to drop it), but of its content.

Uh, genetics is directly testable and modifiable, etymology/classics/history have old texts, "cosmology" has direct observation of current cosmic events/real data, evolutionary biology has real time experiments, paleontology has the actual fossils...

Sure. But brains in general are not universal. That's also demonstrably the case. Most brains aren't human brains. Human brains are special as they've a special relationship to the laws of physics. Coincidentally the video I did today comes to bear on thathttps://twitter.com/ToKTeacher/status/1019963160353099776 …

In fact, "forensic" science about the past is often ahead of theories. Continental drift was discovered based on "forensic" evidence about the past back when people thought, in theory, continental drift was impossible. Detective work on the past is strong in science.
