Imperfect, of course. Much work to be done, no doubt. But our imperfect democracy has enabled us to build perhaps the greatest nation in history by a lot of important metrics.
The illusion of democracy is fading. That's a problem. Existential? Alone. Probably not. Together with loss of religion, diminishing blind faith in nation-states, weakening trust in the rule of law. Perhaps. Perhaps. Perhaps. (To borrow from Cake)
If democracy can be taken out by a phishings scheme and a bunch of easily debunked Facebook ad claims then we got some foundational democratic issues

Russia hasn't even destroyed their Nerve gas weapons.
Don't engage in distractions. We can acknowledge that our country is imperfect while defending against foreign interference.
1/What I can’t quite wrap my head around is that the most outraged people concerned with Trump’s suspicious relationship to and ‘treasonous’ rhetoric regarding Putin, clearly think Trump is an unhinged, impulsive, unpredictable, vengeful adolescent and megalomaniacal monster.
2/Yet they desire from Trump a rhetoric of rigid & ominous hostility towards the only country on Earth besides the US with enough nuclear weaponry to reduce entire continents to radioactive firestorms & ashes in less than an hour. This is not ‘scaremongering’, this is *reality*.
