Countries with Universal healthcare are so much cheaper because government bargains down price from providers. In US MRI costs 10x what it does in other countries because Big Pharma/Medical Industry/Dr's price gouge.

Thai doctors don't earn $$$. Don't use latest drugs. And don't ask for endless testing. And....

Unless I see otherwise, it seems like the "evil insurance company" thing is overplayed. If there was so much profit to be had then there would be more competitors in the marketplace. Insurance companies are only allowed to make 15% more than the actual cost of the insurance.

Plan: you pay up to $n (n = f(income, wealth) with plateau @ 20% of income for most people since medical care is about 20% of GDP). Nation reimburses/pays directly rest. Subsidize under-consumed services. Fixes: preexisting conditions, poverty, over/underconsumption, pricing.

I would advise to go to a place where they speak your native language and someplace you have researched. Any procedure has the potential for fatality, even when done correctly. But Thai doctors pockets aren’t lined with money from big drug companies.

That sounds amazeballs! Much more in line with what many American health consumers want imo. At least basic healthcare should be cheap and convenient. The high-end expensive work and vanity body sculpting should be handled separately.

Serious question: They have high quality health care there?
