Yes. We must retake the left and return it to reason. Having principle puts you in their sights. They kick you out. You see it from a distance and have this thought. Related note: even the honorable right knows it needs a vibrant left. A unipolar system tends toward maddness. https://twitter.com/kittypurrzog/status/1016530674407260161 …

@primalpoly , you make a perfect case for Bret's need of a rational left. The factions you listed aren't really that diverse. Seemingly, all of those groups could carry on business as usual without ever having to confront any real left wing political principles. -
Open-borders libertarians are much more different from ethnonationalists than Democrats are from Republicans. FWIW.

Bret, if the left had its way the entire country would be evergreened right up the ass. There is no salvaging it. It’s finished. Meet us libertarian minded folk in the new middle..which happens to be on the right (using old terms).

You are missing two bits of nuance I'm not talking about giving "the left its way". The left needs a vibrant right too. And I'm not looking to give the regresive left more power. But the sober left is rising from ashes, and the sober right should root for it-->Shared fate.

I'm all for drawing lines against the worst right-wingers (in my personal choices about where to give my attention), but Bret I fear that your concern for distinguishing the "honorable right" will just kick the can down the road. I lean toward *no* cordon sanitaire wrt beliefs.
