And children have so many more years to live with the consequences of their votes than their grandparents do. A 16 year old should have more political power than a 95 year old.

Why not do both, with weighted votes? 12yos get 1/4 vote, 16yos get 1/2 vote, 18yos get 1 vote, 30yos get 1.25 votes, 40yos get 1.5 votes.

The weights should start going back down after 50, though, as time horizons start getting short-term...

A few years ago I saw employees of a group home taking people with clear cognitive disabilities to my polling place, and literally voting for them. I was a bit disturbed by this, frankly.

If voting were to be weighted this way (which is not unreasonable), then shouldn't it also be weighted by the net taxes actually paid as well? Someone raising 5 kids has a set of interests 6X a single person, but so does someone paying 6X the taxes.
