In Canada we have hate speech laws. You are free to say whatever you want in privacy of home etc. But once you start disseminating it, trying to have public platform, Its not protected. No Blind devotion to free speech at all costs/at expense of vulnerable & social cohesion.
The @ACLU is abandoning its commitment to free speech in favor of 'social justice' activism. Throwing away its historical legacy & ethical principles to appease some Leftist donors and interns. #sad

I’m not sure this is the case at all. The memo doesn’t show a move to “abandon” a commitment to defend the first amendment, just how to select the cases to defend using their limited resources. Your hyperbole seems misplaced.
