Our movies and TV portray most kids as badly-behaved, needy, unstable, untrainable, selfish nightmares, so they're implicitly anti-natalist. Deters people from parenting.

I'm not having kids not because of bad kid behavior. Even if I had the best kid ever its still not worth it. Actually money and childcare are the least of my worries. What I worry about is the health effects of pregnancy, loss of sleep, stress, and being chained to the father.

I stopped watching Eastenders (English soap opera) a while back but I used to joke that when a baby was born the mother’s life just wouldn’t change at all but magically continue. And the baby rarely seen or referred to.

So having a career is a bad thing for women? Or it’s a bad thing for both men and women? I’m not sure why the complaint is cost because you’d need 2 incomes to support more than 2 people or 2 incomes to support 2 people. No one has kids to get rich
