Then it's probably a good thing there are at least a few well intentioned dunderheads in the world. Good, investigative journalism is indispensible to a functioning democracy and has played an important role in the perpetual fight against corruption, nepotism, and tribalism.

Not as much so in the States. Many still employed in other western countries, though opinion journalism is on the rise everywhere. There are some interesting and encouraging models of local journalism that are really reinvesting in investigative journalism on a small scale.
