Tell me again how a constitutional republic protects us against majoritarianism and demagogues?
Radical idea: Suppose Americans actually trusted democracy for once, and we had a year of binding popular referendums on some key issues that politicians can't seem to resolve. What propositions should we vote on?

Immigration Amnesty for childhood arrivals and veterans. Eliminate qualified immunity. Reform civil forfeiture. Decriminalize prostitution. Decriminalize marijuana. All popular (60% or better), yet somehow politically impossible.
