Because obviously JBP is the only person allowed to make those comparisons.

It isn’t that he is the only one. It’s just a performative contradiction by his actions. He isn’t one. He is open to dialogue and doesn’t force people to “buy” his beliefs.

Well, he denounces those who don’t as “corrupt” or as “fifth columnists” who should be “tried for treason.” But carry on.

I don't agree with his "tried for treason" statement either. This absolutely doesn't discredit his clinical or scholarly work, which is lengthy. There was a general theme in this article that lacked substance of a better viewpoint.

It is not his “clinical or scholarly work” that have made him famous. If he limited himself to claims backed up by actual expertise, he would be a respectable but little known university professor.

But that IS what made him popular. That’s why he had a TV series on the Agenda. This didn’t all happen by mistake. I don’t agree with all his arguments, but he is no pseudo scientist. He’s just trying to figure out metaphysics. Of course he’s going to stumble.

Some of his stuff is pseudoscientific. I mean, the the whole “order is masculine, chaos is feminine” schtick is meaningless woo. But people take it seriously because he has some limited credibility as a “scientist” related to his serious research on alcoholism.

His forays into “evolutionary psychology”, and his obsession with “dominance hierarchies”, have been roundly ridiculed by evolutionary biologists.

There are -aspects- that have been criticized for, but not all of it. If these criticisms were completely damaging, why would people listen? Why would ANY scholar take him seriously? He is wrong on some points. -Some- is imperative.

Do you know of actual scholars that have spoken out in his favour? Given that psychology is the area of his expertise, remarkably few psychologists have publicly supported him.

As do I. I think he has made claims way outside his league that are both immeasurable and incorrect. Does that blow the slats out from underneath his thinking? Absolutely not. I'll just discard the bad ideas as I should. Not all his listeners are "fans".Ugh.
