I've spent a long hard time, buying domains for large sums of money, registering trademarks, doing all I can to have pressreset as my "brand", and I looked forward to getting verified. It was hard enough to get YouTube to give me the /pressreset URL & username for petes sake.

If I were to get media attention, there is zero stopping some large corp entity swooping in and shutting my branding out on youtube now.

If I were named Bob, I was a jeweler, I had registered "http://BobTheJeweler.com " PLUS owned a store AND had a trademark for Bob The Jeweler then registered a YouTube channel BobTheJeweler, SteveTheJeweler can swoop in and shut out that verification just because he's famous/big.

Another example:
@thekingofrandom (RIP) spent years building his brand on YouTube. If Sony wanted to name a film "The King of Random" they could, then create a YouTube channel for the film, verify it, and shut out the REAL KoR.Show this thread -
The issue is that their eligibility requirements USED to prioritize from within YouTube, however NOW the eligibility requirements prioritize from OUTSIDE YouTube. This is a HUGE can of worms being opened up.

This isn't speculation, this has happened to me with my brand, and BOTH times I was able to shut down their threats to me because I have a YouTube channel, the domains, pressreset as a username everywhere (except reddit) and a trademark.

If YouTube is essentially saying "we don't honor your branding anymore from within" that leaves me screwed in future confrontations because the platform I make content for won't honor the brand once there is a media push from a larger entity.

Yes I got hit... It's so wrong. We earn the verified badge and I have issues with fake accounts. Now I'm not verified people might not get in touch anymore since I could be "fake"pic.twitter.com/b3GtKFGePg
