I am wondering, just wondering how much the AI myth has cost enterprises over the past couple of years. 🤔

Run this command on your git repo: git log --format=format: --name-only | egrep -v '^$' | sort | uniq -c | sort -r | head -5 It will show you the top 5 most changed files in your repo. Next time you consider refactoring, you might as well go through those first What do you see?

Quite a few of the open-source projects I have looked at, share a similar pattern of code retention. A very rapid growth of new LoCs added (presumably, due to maintainers happily accepting new PRs), only for those to be massively cut sometime later.

All my reminders got "kidnapped" after an update, not supported by my macOS. All I got was this ransom note. Knowing Apple, a downgrade is out of question. Time to search for an alternative. Hello, 👋🏼

Up for a thought exercise? Imagine that microservices, lambdas, serverless, etc don't really stand to their promise in the long run. What's the "next big thing" that no one has heard about? Going back to the good old monolith?

What made Gradle unbearable, was learning to fight yet another DSL. What makes it even worse, is when people start using it for various non-build related things, just because it's a regula programming language. This blurs the barrier between what goes where even further.

I also remember the first time I saw a big Go project use a single Makefile, and I was like, "you kidding?" The reality is for most projects, it's more than fine that way. IMO, a build tool is only good when it helps rather than prevents you from doing your main job.

I've heard this from other sources, too. Do I see some move back from Gradle to Maven, or has it always been so? I remember how hyped we to use Gradle in a project, but working on Gradle slowly became a job of itself

Imagine a prog. language with the ergonomic syntax of Ruby, the speed of execution of C, the concurrency model of Go, and last but not least, a compiler that runs null checks at compile time. Sounds like a dream? Well, this language exists:
