I wish I could contribute a tiny bit to maths by running an automated theorem prover in the background. Not many distributed volunteer computing maths projects.

Working on Collatz would scratch my itch, but the project page doesn't say what it is they're computing. For all I know, they're just testing whether individual integers are counterexamples, which project might never end.

Proof search is also in the category of projects which might never end, but at least that's the interesting failure of not finding something we think is there, instead of the boring failure of not finding what we think isn't there.
