Peeve: Author wants to say P(X), but knows it sounds wrong, so they say P is true of "X/Y", where P is true of Y, and Y is kind of like X.
Except that no one even sees the BS. Your brain just accepts that surprise/salience is a thing, or confusion/annoyance etc
