@preinfarction This "complexity" is an intuitive observation; formal math not obvious. Similarly for cups breaking. It's not "entropy".

@preinfarction It's just "how computations look when they are unfolding". -
@preinfarction Ok, this ends my 2¢. Sorry for the tweet storm, hope it's appreciated :)

@preinfarction But, suppose that the past really is simpler, by the agent's subjective judgement.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@preinfarction Typical way of specifying physics: boundary conditions + equations. Occam says *both* should be simple.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@preinfarction So, my current thinking is that time is the direction of computation, the direction the equations unfold in.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@preinfarction Like the equations themselves, the direction of time must be guessed based on our subjective idea of simplicity.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@preinfarction If you put cream into coffee, first it's very simple (unmixed), then it forms increasingly complex swirls, then it's mixed.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
