Aragonite morphs into calcite at standard pressure if you leave it in a 500°C furnace for ~1 or 2 hrs. I once read that it morphs instantly at much higher temperatures, within the range of oxy propane torches. Have any welders out there made calcite? Would you?

It's not a precious gem. Its dirt cheap, it's in every lot of dirt, and It melts in vinegar. But don't you want to make one yourself? Isn't that the divine dream of engineering, to make everything at least once? The effecting of all things possible
