Very humbling when a painting looks good as it is but it looks terrible when flipped left to right. Brain should not be tricked so easily.

There are inaccuracies and mistakes I can't see because they've become familiar, and persistently mistaking one (abnormal facial) geometry for another is a more startling failure of the visual system than lots of other visual illusions. Like mistaking a cube for a pyramid. Crazy.
