We code on computers, not whiteboards. Whiteboard skills have nothing to do with developer job performance. "But. But. I want to see how you think!" - coders think non-sequentially, moving blocks around, trying things, seeing and fixing errors. Whiteboards get in the way.

  5. Go to sleep with a software problem. Wake up with the solution. TDD/code it up. Get a nice buzz off the green checks in your IDE ... 🤔call that ... Dream Driven Development 🤓😎

It's dope when u meet that dev who cares as much about the and design as u do, better when u work with them. If that's u, give thanks, cus the industry like any other, is full of people who r "just here for the check" w no respect for the art at all

DDD is a discipline, mindset and heuristic more than a hard set of technical patterns, although it's all of the above

Had the same experience with OOD, then felt the same way again, when I discovered and again when I revisited DDD

the mindset is one of patience, communication, inquisitiveness, love of software design, poetry and abstraction... the last one is not as much of a reach as it appears to be at first glance 😁

when the language spoken in discussion among/between devs and users, is not in the design or the code - big red flag in your design 🚩☠️ .. or an opportunity 🙇🏾‍♀️ capture the language used by the business, in your design and code

developers, invite domain experts and users talk to you in the language of the actual business pay attention to when they use technical jargon to describe a solution to the business domain problem.... tech/design solutions are your job...

the hardest part imo about practicing is that it takes collective effort - a culture/mindset, emo IQ, patience, listening, inquisitiveness, flexibility, across stakeholders to excavate implicit concepts from the UL and design

the deep model emerges iteratively across cycles of refinements, clarifications, and refactorings throughout the ddd knowledge crunching feedback loop: ubiquitous language - domain model - design - code

breakthroughs in your domain modeling will happen when developers recognize a concept that has been hiding implicitly in the design, and then explicitly represent them in new objects

the first step in deep model is to identify and represent in the model, the essential concepts of the domain
