One of my favourite parts of being a journalist is speaking to super switched-on academics, paired with folk who have never told their life stories before.
It feels like such a privilege to be able to learn from people's research and unadulterated personal experiences.

Between the massive media layoffs, the looming bankruptcy of Vice, the studios forcing the writers into a strike & the rise of A.I. there's been a grotesque devaluation of imagination & creativity – during a time where it feels like people are more desperate for it than ever.

Writing this article on tourism in Jamaica was emotional.
It came about after I stumbled upon a very sad story of a young woman who decided to maintain the legacy of her mum's guesthouse in the mountains of Westmoreland parish.

gal-dem has been such an important part of my life as a reader, writer and fan. I'm sad to see it go, but it will always be a reminder of what journalism can be. Thank you to all the people who created such an inspiring platform that made countless waves in British media.

We are incredibly sad to announce that gal-dem is closing.
Several factors that have contributed to this difficult decision, including numerous challenges with running a small, mission-driven, independent media company. We’ve shared more here gal-dem.com/gal-dem-goodby
