Keeping the phone out of my bedroom works very well. And when I manage to meditate before checking any messages/aps I feel noticeably sharper throughout the day. This is something I've strongly struggled with too. Interested in following this thread-- I turn off notifications for everything but texts, but still get the impulse to see where people have replied / contacted me elsewhere even as soon as I wake up.
