Can't agree with you on this one. People keep saying, "it was from years ago." He was 41 years old at the time. 41! Not some young man who's immaturity got the better of him. He KNEW the severity of his tweets. What if he was saying that about your child? Still feel the same?

The age isn't the point, it's the fact that he has grown the past DECADE. He also apologized publicly years ago for it before he was hired by Disney so that shows growth also. What's the point in change if your past is thrown at you all the time?
-
So you'd feel safe letting your child have a playdate with someone who was into child porn 10 years ago "because they've changed?" Pffft. Give me a break. The only thing that changed was he became more well known and knew he should cool it.
-
It's not a joke when you have to delete 10 THOUSAND inappropriate tweets from your Twitter. It certainly isn't a joke to any mother or father who's child has been abused by an adult. A child being sexually abused is never funny.

What do you expect
@Disney to do? Their target demographic is children and if an "employee" makes these remarks on a public platform are they just to look the other way? They are a business and made a good business decision -
Those tweets were there when Disney hired him. To hire a man with those tweets in the public forum only to fire him for those same tweets is not "good business sense"; it's pure hypocrisy.
-
I disagree only assuming that Disney didn't do an in depth background check before hiring him. I don't know their hiring procedures so if you do please show me where I am wrong and I will accept. It is safe to infer by their immediate response that they did not dig into Twitter.
-
I don't have evidence for my assertion, any more than you have evidence for yours. But I refused to believe that a corporation as image- conscious and resource-rich as Disney would not have thought to check the social media profiles of their staff.
-
Their quick response doesn't show their abhorrence that the tweets existed, only that somebody else notice them and made a public fuss. It was a PR exercise, damage limitation.
-
But it doesn't make them hypocrites, especially if we don't know what exactly they knew. They may have extensive background check for actual employees but this is a contracted director. I would be surprised if they went digging around 8 year old tweets. None of it matters though
-
I would say it does matter. If Disney didn't care about those tweets, either because they saw them and thought enough time had past, or they didn't think to look, then it is hypocrisy to suddenly find tweets from that long ago unacceptable because somebody else noticed them.
-
Seems like the only thing we are really debating is whether or not Disney knew about the tweets. I think you have a valid argument that they did but at the same time it's just as likely they didn't. It doesn't matter because we won't know the truth out of Disney.

I was a big fan and I loved the speech you gave when you received your award. Thanking god and speaking truth. This though I can not support, and don't quite understand how you can either just because you worked with him. Would trust your child alone with him? I don't think so!
-
He's Christian, forgiveness plays a big part.
-
True, I agree, forgiveness is a big part of Christianity and this may be the reason. I still wouldn't trust my kid with him and most likely neither would Chris!

So this is a shock.. I take it you lot will then be giving
@therealroseanne a chance and maybe even the Trump?pic.twitter.com/DrdrJalDOm -
On the Trump end, there's a difference between making jokes and actually assaulting people (which trump has been accused of and even claimed he did himself in the video). With Roseanne, the offensive joke was made right before firing, not a literal decade ago.
-
Additionally, Trump and Roseanne refused to take responsibility for or apologize for their actions (Roseanne did briefly but has since turned around on that). Gunn actually apologized and has since retracted from the public eye instead of deflecting.
