And there is no SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE in the Constitution! That statement is in a letter from President Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists! And he meant that there was a wall keeping the Government out of religion! He did not mean keeping Christianity out of government!

This is simply incorrect; one of the distinctions of colonies such as Pennsylvania, New-Jersey, and New-England was the relatively greater freedom of worship as compared to Mother England. Quakers, Puritans, Jews, & "Mohammedans" (Muslims) practiced openly here before the

Can't lump all of New England together. Massachusetts, Connecticut & New Hampshire had Congregationalist establishments, with taxes going to support majority religion. Only Rhode Island had such religious freedom, attracting more Baptists and the region's only Jews.
