The 1st Amendment was made FOR "hate" speech. (After all, "love" speech sure doesn't need it.) “But who decides what is 'hate speech'? The phrase has become the 21st century equivalent of 'heresy'.” – NIALL FERGUSON

Apparently, they've never heard of the slippery slope, nor the old saying "it depends on whose ox is being gored."

In a western democracy "hate" speech will die out by itself if it's truly hate speech. It is scary when government or public institutions like colleges determine what is hate according to their agenda and it leads to an authoritarian government that they were trying to prevent

Disturbing that college presidents know no more of the founding of America and the tyrannies that caused it than to hold this opinion. Not to mention they coudn’t have read 1984.

It may be "hate speech", just as "We need to flush all of the white people down into shark infested waters" is hate speech, but the point of the Prager post is that both statements are protected by the First Amendment, so hate speech does not exist with respect to the law.

It was the tool to prevent any criticism of anyone against the current philosophy in powor against any org or religion that has a global mindset. One world government will come with one belief system. And speaking out while watching it grow into that world power is hateful. See?

Conflation of controversial comments and direct threats is the problem. Someone preaching "Go kill all *insert group*" (a threat) is not the same as "I hate / dislike / find offensive *insert group*" (comment) People should be free so say what they want, not free to issue threats
