SS is a System that was doomed to fail eventually. There is no way that you could survive off of what you get from ss anyway. Why having 401k or other retirement investments are so important.

Most people rely solely on ss they put no money in 401k or anything else. That is a bad plan. I don’t make a lot but when I retire my 401k and other investments will keep my income at what it is now. Ss would have me in poverty.

I mean I have paid into SS for many years now I’m owed the money. However banking on it compared to everything else that’s available is a bad idea. According to ss them selfs it may not even exist when I get old enough to drawl it. They’re going broke.

I think you just made my point. You can’t rely on ss because it’s ran by the government. They miss manage it and miss use it. 401k is more reliable then ss. Honest works can’t rely on ss.

30k a year! What a bunch of BS! My grandmothers and other family worked and paid into ss all there life and don’t get nowhere close to that. More like minimum wage!

How can I think that I would get more per month on 401(k) then ss? Because I’ve planed and budgeted. Manage my retirement well. What you’re saying about how much ss I can get is wrong. Reality is I want get 30k back a year.

I never said I didn’t want my ss. I said in previous comment that I paid into it so I have a right to what I paid into. I said I will not rely on it. Average person only get A little over 1000 a month in ss. That’s poverty. I have no idea what you’re talking about.

This statement is completely misleading. Of course few were eligible for benefits in program's first year.
