Flattening the curve postpones cases and death, not stop them. The area under the curve is the same. It also delays herd immunity. When folks emerge they will be just as vulnerable as before.

It's straight up hypocritical that the authorities imposing the lockdowns were poli-sci majors in the 70's-80's who drove battered rusted out Volvos and VW Beetles held together with QUESTION AUTHORITY bumper stickers.

What was the purpose of the temporary lockdown?
1. Shrink the curve (fewer people ever contracting the virus)
2. Flatten the curve (spread out infections over time to avoid overwhelming hospitals)
