This cartoon is clever, but misses the point. Full lockdown is not the same as the, say, Swedish policy of protecting the elderly (tho’ they admit they moved too slowly on this at first) and social distancing. The choice is presented in the US media as all or nothing - it’s not.

Apparently, sunlight and temperature are distinct factors in the viability of this (and other) viral strains. Hence, "flu season" has always been predominate in the winter months and colder climates.
