The free market has some limitations when it comes to conservation, and I'm a devout conservative. If you make a species go extinct, that's forever. Habitat is critical to many species, private industry can't do the job.

This is literally factually incorrect. The biggest polluters are big corporations (USLoC) & when private regulators had a say in environmental issues we got companies like DuPont poisoning everyone and dumping waste. Gov regulations have historically preserved the environment
