There is a very simple answer to this. Americans care about the history of slavery and racist Jim Crow laws in America because they LIVED it. You seemed to understand this concept when you filed a class action lawsuit with the support of the NAACP

The UK abolished slavery in its Empire in 1833 and used the Royal Navy to enforce the ban worldwide. The US didn't do so until the 1860's. Any slave that set foot on British soil was deemed free, an American visiting England with his slave was shocked to find this out.

Pennsylvania abolished slavery in 1780. Although only one state at the time, it was the beginning.
