I agree with much of what the founders thought. But we need to remind ourselves that for all of their moral ideals, many of the founders had slaves, and at least one of them, Thomas Jefferson, fathered several children by his wife's half sister and slave, Sallie Hemmings.

The founders' written expression of what they believed to be an ideal society is embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. However, those documents are not self-executing. To give life to the words we must ACT in accordance with them.
